Instructions & Tips for Preparing Your Products

We realize that the products that you are sending are YOURS and it is up to you how you want them photographed. However, we do have a few tips to help you prepare your products to make them look their best.

  • Send only high quality products. Keep in mind that these photos will be representative of your entire line.

  • Print product labels on your printer’s highest quality setting for optimal color and clarity.

  • Make sure that labels, bows, caps, etc. are all on straight. (We will make minor adjustments to tags, bows, etc. that were displaced during shipping.)

  • If you normally use a hang tag for your products, then create a “stick on” label just for the photos. They look much better than JUST hang tags. (You can do both, that is fine.)

  • Send spray bottles, powder shakers, jars, etc. with “generic” labels, so that you may use the same photo for different varieties of the same or similar products. For example if you carry both lotion and bath gel, and you use a white bottle, then place one generic label on the bottle and use the image to represent both products in your catalog or on your site. Use one wrapped bar of soap to represent all varieties that you carry, or have 3 or 4 varieties photographed all together and use the same image for each listing. This will save you time and money!

  • For bath and body products in white bottles, send empty bottles for the photos. This will save you money on shipping. If you use clear bottles, send unscented lotions & body mists and unscented melt and pour soap bars, so that you can melt them back down and reuse them after the shoot.

  • Wrap ALL soaps in plastic wrap before applying paper labels. They will be handled A LOT!

  • For candles, be sure that they are exceptional quality. Check for glass adhesion (it can show in a photo if the wax is not sticking to all areas of a glass jar), make sure colors are well blended, etc.

  • Some of the best product photos (especially candles) are photos of 2-4 of the same product in different colors. For example if you have an 8 oz canning jar candle, send 2-4 of them in different colors with different bow or fabric topper patterns for the best looking photos. They look much better than single product photos. The same is true of body washes, lotions, etc. Votives and soap bars are best in larger varieties than that.

  • If you are sending jewelry, make sure that it is free of fingerprints, loose beading and hanging threads, etc.

  • Iron clothing before you send it. We can do any touch ups after they arrive if necessary, but will not iron the entire garment.
